How to Deal with "Error Task"

Despite the work of group allocated has occurred, and if anyone does not belong to the group, Questetra BPM Suite warns as "Error Task". An authorized person as 'Process Administrator' who is designated in each Workflow definition has to check the "Error task" and assign the Task to someone. In some cases, the administrator would better to cancel it.

What Is Error Task?

Situations Tasks Become Error

  • A Group is specified to Swimlane by the allocation rule, but no one exists in the Group.
  • Cases that a user to be specified in User type Data Item, but the data has not entered.

In the cases like above, the Task is allocated or offered to nobody, so it will not appear in 'My Tasks' or 'offered Tasks' of anyone.

To Check Error Task

Instead, these Tasks will be displayed in the "Error Task" list which only indicated on the screen of 'Process Administrator' of applicable process model.
The creator of the Process model is the Process Administrator until setting is changed.
Error Task list will be displayed by clicking on [Error Task] button in the left side menu.

 

On the Error Task list, you can browse the Tasks which you are authorized and is allocated to nobody. Click [Detail] button for the detail.

How to Deal with

Tasks in the Error Task means the process does not progress anymore, so the process or the Task have to be treated somehow.

Reallocate

The most common way to deal with Error Task is to "Reallocate" which is to designate a user to the task. Press the [Reallocate] button on the corresponding task .

Cancel or Delete

The Process Administrator also can Cancel or Delete the process itself.
They can be done by clicking [Cancel], [Delete] button in Process Detail page. Execution Records and data so far are retained when Canceled, but when Deleted, every data and records will be also deleted.
